Over the years, the Plainville Community Food Pantry has been
able to meet the needs of the community because of the
generosity of its donors and volunteers. As the number of
families and individuals in need in our community has increased,
so have the needs of the pantry. To help those in our community
who are experiencing difficult times, consider volunteering or
donating to our programs.
The Plainville Community Food Pantry, Inc. is a tax-exempt 501
(c)(3) organization and donations are tax-deductible. Donors
receive an acknowledgement for their gift. Click Here to view our
current, public financial statement.

Food
We gratefully accept donations of non-perishable food. Non-
perishable food items are preferred/accepted. Items that clients
cannot buy with food stamps, such as feminine products, soap,
shampoo, conditioner and paper goods are also welcome.
Household items
If you are considering donating household or furniture items,
please call us in advance. We lack storage space and must
assess the need for these larger items prior to accepting them.
We also ask that they be in safe and good working condition.
Clothing
We accept new and gently used clothing for our clients. A
portion of our warehouse is set up like a store and clients can
browse from the selection available. Our inventory needs
change seasonally. In the spring and summer we need short
sleeves, shorts and other warm weather clothes, in the fall and
winter, and cool weather clothes, coats, hats, mittens/gloves. We
also need shoes and boots, and other inventory such as
backpacks. Size needs range from newborn through adult, and
Plus and maternity. Only brand new donations of socks and
underwear can be accepted.
Gift Certificates
We welcome gift certificates to purchase perishable food not
received through regular contributions. We use these for fresh
milk, eggs, butter, juice and meats. These items are purchased
weekly by the pantry to better aid our clients in getting a
balanced diet.
VOLUNTEER
The Plainville Community Food Pantry would not be where it is
today without the dedication and hard work of its numerous
volunteers. If you would like to volunteer, please call us at (860)
747-1919, or stop by the pantry for a tour. We will be happy to
explain volunteer roles and responsibilities. You can help out as
many hours as your schedule allows. All assistance is greatly
appreciated.

Bread Distribution Program
The PCFP “Bread Guys” are a selfless group of individuals who
donate their time daily to pick up bread and other bakery items
from local stores and deliver them to nearly 30 human service
agencies throughout Central Connecticut. Last year this team
selflessly donated more than 2,000 hours of their time, and won
the Ellen Varnum Volunteer of the Year award through RSVP.

Planned Gifts
Unlike cash donations, planned gifts require some planning
before they are made. A common type of planned gift is a
charitable bequest through your will, yet there are other options
for planned gifts that may better fit your needs. Planned gift
arrangements, such as charitable gift annuities or remainder
trusts, can provide you (and a second beneficiary, if you choose)
with an income for life. This income can be outright or deferred.
You retain full ownership and control of your assets during your
lifetime, and the gift comes to Plainville Community Food Pantry
upon your death.
These gifts may be set up by financial institutions such as your
bank, or through a local community foundation. Your benefits
include a charitable contribution deduction on your taxes, and
the removal of taxable assets from your estate. Donors should
consult with their own tax or legal advisors prior to making a
planned gift.*
Planned gifts help leave a permanent legacy from you to your
community long after you are gone.
For more information on designating the Plainville Community
Food Pantry, Inc. as the beneficiary of a planned gift, please
contact Susie Woerz, executive director, at (860) 747-1919.

Bequests
The simplest way to give in the future is through a bequest in your will. You
retain full ownership and control of your assets during your lifetime, and the
gift comes to the PCFP upon your death. You also benefit from an estate
tax deduction for the value of your gift.
If you are interested in making a bequest to the PCFP, please provide your
attorney with the following language:
“I give, devise and bequeath ___% (percentage) of the net value of my estate, or $____
(sum of money), or _______ (named property), or all the rest, residue and remainder of
my estate to The Plainville Community Food Pantry, Inc., located in Plainville,
Connecticut.”
Memorial and Honorary Donations
In Memoriam Gifts
Make a donation in memory of a deceased loved one or friend. The
Plainville Community Food Pantry will send a personalized card to the
family of the deceased acknowledging your thoughtful gift.
In Honor Gifts
Make a donation in honor of a loved one’s birthday, anniversary,
communion, confirmation, graduation, Mother’s Day or Father’s Day,
retirement, or any number of other occasions. Honoring a person in this
way shows you care both for the honoree, and about the persons whose
lives your gift will touch. For example, in 2003 Joseph R. Silverio, one of the
pantry's original founders, was honored through a contribution in his name
to the endowment fund.
Please complete the following form and submit it. The PCFP will send a
personalized card to the honoree acknowledging your gift. Thank you in

be a retiree, but in some cases spouses’ gifts are eligible. Find out by
